The 1st edition of Lome Biennale in Togo:
Another amazing project am currently working on is the first edition of the upcoming Lome Biennale in Togo. I find it a great honor to be able to work with Samuel Olou in realizing this as well as the IFAAKamina Project which we began last years as a pilot, in preparation for the many exciting projects we plan to realize in Togo.
The main reason for realizing this biennale is to strengthen and promote culture because: Culture matters, it is the core of both societal and economic development. Culture enables us to celebrate our traditions and diverse cultural practices. Culture shapes and influences our identity, sense of purpose and belonging. Culture helps us understand our sense of place and context and how this in turn, shapes our surroundings and the knowledge of who we are and where we came from. Knowing who we are and where we come from, brings with it, value, a sense of purpose and equally inspires, giving birth to the new, which in turn shapes and influences how we see, think, view and interact with everything that is around us and everyone we come into contact with.
It is with this reason that the take off point of the 1st edition of Lome biennale focuses on the role of culture, as a catalyst for change and in unearthing the Togolese creative potential, by re-visiting the past in order to be inspired and to build a bridge of knowledge by taping into the ancestral creative genius.
